To meet this challenge, EdTech company PINKTUM has launched an interdisciplinary Human Ethics Committee (HEC).
This panel of external experts helps embed ethical responsibility into the company’s governance structures, with the goal of setting a new standard for ethically grounded AI in education.
The HEC advises PINKTUM’s leadership, oversees the development and application of AI in learning contexts, and evaluates real-world use cases to ensure technological innovation aligns with human progress. At the heart of its mission is the well-being of individuals.
Key Objectives:
- · Empowering human autonomy and agency
- · Ensuring responsible data handling and processing
- · Balancing the interests of HR departments and learners fairly
HEC Members:
Marina Tcharnetsky: CBDO and Ambassador of the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC), Chair of the HEC
Prof. Dr. Marina Tropmann-Frick: Professor of Data Science, HAW Hamburg
Prof. Dr. Maximilian Kiener: Professor of Ethics in Technology, Hamburg University of Technology

“Technology must be guided by ethics. I’m excited to help shape PINKTUM’s Ethics Committee—especially because AI offers such tremendous opportunities in education.”

Prof. Dr. Maximilian Kiener, Professor of Ethics in Technology, Hamburg University of Technology
“Ethics and innovation go hand in hand, because it’s in their intersection that the next leap in technology can happen. I’m eager to explore these dimensions in practice at PINKTUM.”
Dr. Ana Ilievska, Senior Research Fellow, “Desirable AI” project by Stiftung Mercator, University of Bonn
“As a scholar of literature and cultural studies, I bring the lens of a long humanistic tradition—so that even in the age of AI, we remember what makes a good life and strive to preserve it.”
David Landskron, Investment Advisor and ARIC Ambassador
“For the first time in human history, AI and learning together offer the possibility for truly personalized education. But that requires systems built on trust, transparency, and privacy. That’s what I’m committed to in the HEC.”
