Microlearnings are on everyone's lips. Practical "morsels" for fast knowledge transfer. But the classic "Macrolearnings" also have a lot to offer. We will explain the difference between Microlearning and Macrolearning, what they can do for you, and when which one is best for you!

What are Macrolearnings?

Macrolearning is the term we use to describe classic e-learning courses in which complex topics are explained and practiced in a comprehensive, skills-oriented and hands-on manner. The PINKTUM Macrolearnings are usually completed within about 50 minutes. A Macrolearning includes several chapters that cover individual subsections of the topic. They are rich in detail, variety and diversity for knowledge building.

One of the core elements of Microlearning: videos! The chapter usually begins with them. A prominent feature of the videos are the enacted scenes. Actors recreate situations from the workplace that you may recognize. You identify with the challenges, perhaps you know them from your everyday life and experience how different situations play out under different circumstances. Often the characters in the enacted scenes will learn something in the course of the training. And so will you! This is called observational learning.

Another part of the videos are the moderated scenes. A speaker addresses you directly and explains contexts and backgrounds. Many people learn better when something is communicated to them acoustically. Are you perhaps one of them?

The third component of the videos: an explanatory film! These are animated videos, i.e.,. short graphic films in which content is visualized with symbols so that you can better imagine the connections.

After the moving images, it's all about understanding, consolidating and applying your acquired knowledge even better. Our interactive learning elements will help you to do this. The transfer tasks are particularly relevant for practical application. They encourage you to relate your newly acquired knowledge to your day-to-day life. How can I improve my soft skills? How can I use the skills I have learned? Furthermore, when and where can I do this?

At the end of Macrolearning, you will be able to see how much of the content you have covered, you have successfully memorized and where you still need to improve. make your selection on ten multiple-choice questions. If you answer 80 percent of the questions correctly, congratulations! You have successfully completed the Macrolearning.

Our goal is that by the end of the macrolearning, you will have developed your soft skills and feel more comfortable using them in your own daily life. But what are Microlearnings?

What are Microlearnings?

Microlearnings are audiovisual learning units that are only a few minutes long and come in a video format. You won't be able to completely immerse yourself in a new topic in just a few minutes—and you shouldn't, because that's what Macrolearning is for!

PINKTUM divides its Microlearnings into two categories. "Know-how" Microlearnings and "Challenge" Microlearnings. Both take only a few minutes, are convenient, and are perfect for individual needs in urgent situations.

What are Know-how microlearnings?

Know-how microlearnings is all about knowledge. They are intended to consolidate or refresh your knowledge on a specific topic. In a short period of time, you will get a refresher of your soft skills on topic-related issues. Know-how Microlearning is designed to build your expertise in a time-efficient manner and quickly fill knowledge gaps. You will be guided by a moderator and engaging animations!

What are Challenge Microlearnings?

Challenge Microlearnings are also designed to provide a quick knowledge boost to support your skills on specific topics. These topics focus on sensitive situations, such as personal challenges or complex conversations that arise in the workplace. They are specifically tailored to address the most pressing issues. Challenge Microlearnings give you actionable tips in just a few minutes to immediately improve your soft skills. For example, are you inhibited about striking up a conversation with strangers at networking events? Watch a few minutes of the right Microlearning, and you'll get the right inspiration for immediate application.

How do Macrolearnings differ from Microlearnings?

After this description, you can probably answer this question on your own. In their application and their function! If you want to delve deep into a topic, understand connections and get ideas for implementing it in your everyday life, take the time for a Macrolearning.

Would you like to refresh your knowledge or consolidate what you have already learned in just a few minutes, even without in-depth prior knowledge? Then train your soft skills for the desired topic in the form of a Know-how Microlearning.

Are you facing a challenge in your day-to-day work and need practical points of action? Then Challenge Microlearnings can quickly provide appropriate and factual solution inspiration for overcoming your situation.

Macrolearning and Microlearning complement each other in what they focus on. Combined in the right way, they help you develop skills, master tasks with expertise, and get actionable insights for personal development. No time to learn? Microlearnings, just like Macrolearnings, can also be used independently as stand-alone trainings.

We cordially invite you to a self-experiment. Learn more and test a Macrolearning with matching Microlearnings for free here.
