Responsible AI

Our firm commitment to ensuring the trustworthy and responsible use of AI and data.

Leading the Way in Responsible AI for Education

As AI systems increasingly shape how we learn, work, and interact, we carry a growing responsibility to use them ethically and in ways that truly benefit people over the long term. Yet, measuring that impact is no easy task. That’s why many companies, including those in the education sector, default to quantitative metrics such as dwell time. These systems often end up exploiting users’ cognitive biases rather than fostering sustainable educational development.

At PINKTUM, we believe there’s a better way. Drawing on decades of in-depth understanding of AI, we are setting a new benchmark for responsible AI in education.

Our systems are purposefully designed to nurture essential human skills: critical thinking, self-reflection, and independent decision-making. Because now more than ever, these human skills are becoming a prerequisite not just to individual well-being, but to long-term success in any organization.

Human Ethics Committee (HEC)

PINKTUM has established a Human Ethics Committee (HEC) to provide essential oversight and support to ensure that our AI development serves the well-being of people and pushes the boundaries of education.

The HEC brings together diverse perspectives from ethics, education, psychology, and technology. Its role goes far beyond monitoring compliance. It actively contributes to shaping how AI can be harnessed to enhance human potential in learning environments. We look forward to sharing ongoing updates on this important initiative as it continues to evolve and grow.

Our Philosophy

Our approach to responsible AI is guided by three basic principles:

1. Prioritizing Human Autonomy

Human autonomy means the ability to make informed, thoughtful decisions. It empowers individuals to take control of their digital experiences, and it depends on transparency. That’s why we design our systems to be understandable and user-centered. We aim to return data insights to users, help them grasp how AI systems work, and support them in navigating digital environments with confidence and self-determination.

2. Strengthening Human Agency

Human agency is the capacity to act on one’s own decisions, ensuring that people don't become passive consumers of technology. Our approach is designed to keep individuals actively engaged in their learning journey, empowering them to shape their own path rather than follow predefined tracks. In doing so, we protect and promote the uniquely human ability to grow, adapt, and develop independently.

3. Innovating Continuously through Research

Responsible AI demands intentional engagement and ongoing research into how AI systems impact users. Our research extends beyond enhancing our own platform. It contributes to broader insights that support the development of human competencies and the ethical advancement of AI across society.

Responsible AI Alliance

Social engagement is essential to the development of responsible AI systems. Given the complexity of AI systems, collaboration and shared learning among organizations committed to ethical implementation are key.

As a founding partner of the Alliance for Responsible AI, we work with other companies to establish best practices and thoughtful frameworks for AI development. Through regular workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives, Alliance members collectively advance our understanding of how AI can best serve people’s interests while meeting regulatory requirements.

Our active participation allows us to contribute valuable insights from the education sector and strengthen the broader ecosystem of human-centered AI innovation. Together, we are building a community that champions technologies that augment, not reduce, human capabilities.

Our AI ethics guidelines put the learner first.

What once seemed like a distant dream is now a reality—seemingly overnight—thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence. Welcome to the future of technology! However, alongside the excitement surrounding self-learning AI tools like ChatGPT, concerns about data privacy have emerged. The ability of AI to make automated decisions also heightens the risk of infringing on individual rights and freedoms.
